The Way of Escape

You say, “I am a sinner. I am tempted in every direction. What am I to do? Am I to have a stiff upper lip? Am I just to gut it out? Or is there another way? I am trying to follow Christ, and yet there are temptations on every side. I am so weak, and I have proven many times that I am not able. My spirit is willing but my flesh is so weak.”

Listen. It is hard to unlearn old habits. We all knew Satan before we knew Christ. Evil is universal. Satan is persistent. Since I came to know Christ, I still sin. But, I have sinned less and less, and for sure sin is no longer the desire of my heart. I no longer embrace the wrong things as right as I once did.

Get behind me Satan! Go before me Christ! Despite all of the temptations, despite all of the attractiveness of this world, despite all of that, God has very powerful good news for you!

I Corinthians 10:13

“…and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you

are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape

also,that you may be able to endure it.”

“WHEN THE BELIEVER FAITHFULLY DEPENDS UPON GOD, BE THE TEMPTATION EVER SO

GREAT AND PRESSING, GOD WILL FAITHFULLY MAKE FOR HIM A WAY OF

ESCAPE. WE HAVE GOD’S WORD ON THAT!”
