The World War Of Two Wisdoms
The Apostle Paul writes at first sight what appears to be a very confusing and even contradictory passage in I Corinthians 3:18-19,
“DO NOT DECEIVE YOURSELVES, IF any one of you thinks he is wise by the standards of the world, you should become fools so that you may become wise. FOR THE WISDOM OF THE WORLD IS FOOLISHNESS IN GOD’S SIGHT. As it is written, ‘The Lord catches the wise in their craftiness.'”
WHAT? WHAT DID PAUL JUST SAY? SAY WHAT?
By the way, the Greek word translated FOOLISHNESS here is the word from which we get the English word MORON! God is talking about the world’s wisdom as THE WISDOM OF FOOLS – MORONS 😣.
Wow! No punches pulled here! You talk about going for the jugular and shooting from the hip! Paul isn’t the least bit concerned about being politically correct!
Think about Paul’s scathing words. It all begs a host of questions. His words make our eyes spin and our ears burn. Like:
1. What is the WORLD’S WISDOM?
2. How in the world can WISDOM BE FOOLISHNESS?
3. How can the wise people of the world 🌎 be MORONS?
4. Why should we become fools in order to become WISE?
Is God trying to make fools out of us? According to Paul, it would appear that we should become fools (morons) in the eyes of the world, so that then we may become wise in the eyes of God! The mystery thickens!

VAIN PHILOSOPHY
The seeming conundrum deepens when we go to the curricula of liberal arts colleges in America. I was required to take extensive courses on Ancient PHILOSOPHY, Medieval PHILOSOPHY, and Modern PHILOSOPHY. I was being philosophized to death, even though I was made to feel like my life depended on it!
By the way, the word PHILOSOPHY is made up of two Greek words, PHILO from PHILEO which means LOVE, and SOPHY from SOPHIA which means WISDOM. A PHILOSOPHER is supposedly a LOVER OF WISDOM. How could you ever go wrong with that? Someone who is in love with wisdom!
But then when the Bible confronts the philosophy and philosophers of the world 🌎, it characterizes them in a far from complimentary way – VAIN PHILOSOPHY (Colossians 2:8). That is, EMPTY, HOLLOW, WORTHLESS WISDOM! How could anything so full of wisdom come up so empty! How can something so wise be so 😎 foolish? There is the paradox again!

WHAT IS WISDOM?
Generally, when you mention wisdom to people, they think of it as an it! You will get a variety of answers when you ask people what they think wisdom is. Such things as intuition, instinct, discernment, insight, balance, perspective, judgment etc. Then you end up with a wise person.
But the fact is, and this may shock a whole lot of folks, WISDOM IS NOT AN IT, A QUALITY, AN ABILITY. WISDOM IS A PERSON! Did you know that? We are about to find out! It is not what is it, but rather WHO is it?!

But first, in the Old Testament, the wisest man that ever lived or ever would live, was the king 👑, KING SOLOMON. I Kings 4:30 says,
“THE WISDOM OF SOLOMON EXCELLED ALL THE WISDOM OF THE EAST COUNTRY, AND ALL OF THE WISDOM OF EGYPT.”
The Bible tells us that King Solomon asked the Lord for a discerning heart to be able to tell right from wrong. He did not ask God for long life or riches or for His enemies to be destroyed. It pleased the Lord greatly. GOD therefore gave Solomon discernment and wisdom above all humanity past, present, and future. (I Kings 3) There never ever was a king like him again!
However, SOLOMON NEVER BECAME WISDOM, for if He had, he would not have done some of the utterly foolish and stupid things he did, like his absurd and unheard of polygamy and idolatry! Ole King Solomon was a womanizer, which is a huge understatement. 700 wives and 300 subwives. When it came to women and wives, he wasn’t the sharpest pencil in the box 📦. He made Hugh Hefner look like a virgin bachelor!

There is only one person for all time and eternity who has ever been and will forever be WISDOM, and His name is JESUS CHRIST. YES, THAT IS RIGHT, WISDOM IS THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. He doesn’t have wisdom, HE IS WISDOM! He is the source of all TRUE WISDOM! He is the embodiment of all wisdom! And to think that He lives in believers!
When the Wise men from Baghdad visited the long awaited Messiah that first Christmas, little did they realize that they were paying tribute to WISDOM HIMSELF. Those who studied the stars were bowing down before Him Who made them! The One Who is the WISDOM behind the entire universe! Wise men who were dead sticks compared to this GIANT REDWOOD OF WISDOM laying in a manger.
We read in I Corinthians 1:30,
“FOR OF HIM ARE YE IN CHRIST JESUS, WHO OF GOD IS MADE UNTO US WISDOM, RIGHTEOUSNESS, SANCTIFICATION.
AND REDEMPTION.”
Staggering! This means the following:
1. In every GOOD WORK, Jesus is and must be the PRECEDENT.
2. In every DECISION, Jesus is and must be the GUIDANCE.
3. In every ENDEAVOR, Jesus is and must be the DIRECTOR.
4. In every RECONCILIATION, Jesus is and must be the RESTORER.
5. In every SESSION, Jesus is and just be the COUNSELOR.
6. In every PROBLEM, Jesus is and must be the SOLUTION.
7. In every CLEANSING, Jesus is and must be the SANCTIFIER.
8. In every FORGIVENESS, Jesus is and must be the FORGIVER.
9. In every SALVATION, Jesus is and must be the SAVIOR.
Isaiah 9:6 calls Jesus Christ:
“THE WONDERFULL COUNSELOR.”
The point being that if you and I would seek His wise counsel and obey it, we would find the results to be WONDERFUL! The problem being that He takes a back seat to the world’s counselors if He has a seat at all. They will give you the world’s wisdom to life’s problems, the wisdom of fools and morons. And all that for $100 a session.
And that is just for starters! But in Heaven the saints and angels got it right and are shouting with a loud voice the following in Revelation 5:12,
“WORTHY IS THE LAMB 🐑 THAT WAS SLAIN TO RECEIVE POWER, RICHES, WISDOM……..”

THE WORLD’S FOOLISH WISDOM
Have you ever heard of FOOL’S GOLD? It looks like gold, and it fools you into thinking that it is real gold. But it isn’t! It makes a fool out of you, and you are NOT the first to find out that all that glitters is not necessarily gold.
And so likewise in I Corinthians 3:19,
“THE WISDOM OF THE WORLD IS FOOL’S GOLD, FOOL’S WISDOM IN GOD’S SIGHT.”
Notice that it is foolishness in GOD’S SIGHT! Not man’s sight. You can only see 👀 the foolishness through the eyes of God! In God’s eyes it is nonsense, even though in man’s eyes the world’s wisdom makes perfect sense!
In fact, it fools the whole world! FOOLS WISDOM! FOOLS GOLD! The whole world believes it, lives it, and praises it! It is not a regional wisdom, it is not a national wisdom. The world’s wisdom transcends regionality and nationality. It ties the whole world together in a global philosophy!
It will one day soon lead the human race into a one world government under the antichrist! The Bride of Christ will by that time have been raptured by her ROYAL BRIDEGROOM JESUS CHRIST.
It is the COSMIC WISDOM! Strange, there wasn’t a course in college called WORLD PHILOSOPHY. It should have been a requirement, and all of the other philosophies electives at most!
It is the wisdom not only of MAINSTREAM AMERICA, but it is the wisdom of mainstream world. Not really a stream! President Donald Trump calls it a swamp, a swamp that is far larger than he knows. It is a slog and a quagmire that covers the earth. The WORLD’S WISDOM MAKES the inhabitants of the earth SWAMP PEOPLE!

MORONIC FOLLY # 1
Paul stated it in I Corinthians 1:21,
“THE WORLD THROUGH WISDOM KNEW NOT GOD.”
Did you hear that? In other words, the world’s wisdom blocks you from knowing God. Hence the word THROUGH! In the world’s wisdom you are through with God!
If you will, BECAUSE OF THE WORLD’S WISDOM, people are stopped from knowing God! It is one of the biggest weapons in Satan’s arsenal to keep people from the knowledge of God! Worldwide!
Hear it:
“IT MAKES PEOPLE IGNORANT OF THAT WHICH THEY MOST NEED TO KNOW – GOD HIMSELF.”
How FOOLISH CAN YOU BE? You just have to be a moron to let that happen! Espousing a wisdom that eliminates GOD WHO IS THE SOURCE OF ALL TRUE WISDOM!
Hear it:
“IN AMERICA, THE WISDOM OF THE WORLD BLOCKS KNOWING GOD BY SEPARATING CHURCH FROM STATE, WHICH IS REALLY BLOCKING GOD FROM SOCIETY.”
That very thing happened in Pre-World War II Germany. God and the Bible and prayer were taken out of the schools and universities as the WISDOM OF THE WORLD took over. The rest is hellish history! Auschwitz and Buchenwald and Ravensbrook are the products of the WORLD’S WISDOM!
The Wisdom of the World tries to convince the American people that EXCLUDING GOD IS MUCH WISER THAN INCLUDING GOD. ONLY STONE COLD DRUNKS SAY THINGS LIKE THAT! The world’s professors and politicians burp up this bile every time they open their mouths! Our young people across America are drinking that bile every day in classrooms of higher learning. By the time they graduate, they must unlearn their foolish learning.
There is no foolishness like this! It takes first place in the world of fools and morons. It gets the huge world CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY 🏆 FOR BEING THE GREATEST FOOLISHNESS IN THE 🌎 WORLD!

BUT BUT BUT, there is a METHOD TO THE MADNESS. There is a reason behind the utter irrationality! There is a logic behind the illogic! There is sense in the nonsense!
It reminds me of the man in the mental asylum who said,
“YES, I AM CRAZY, BUT I AM NOT STUPID.”
So too, the WORLDLY WISE could say,
“YOU CAN CALL ME A FOOL, BUT I AM NOT AN IDIOT.”
You see, by blocking, banning, and banishing the knowledge of God, the worldly wise man creates an idyllic world for himself. How?
Well you see, a GODLESS WORLD IS A LAWLESS WORLD. Moses gets the boot with God. The “Ten Commandments” are taken out of society being run by the wisdom of the world! You won’t see pictures of Jesus or Moses in America’s schools or courtrooms. Moses’ God and Moses’ Ten are out!
That way I can fudge on my income tax without stealing. That way I can cheat on my wife without adulterating. That way I can fib without lying! That way I can have other god’s without committing idolatry. Smart morons aren’t they!
Ah yes, and by so doing, the wise moron puts himself in a state OF UNBOUNDED LAWLESS FREEDOM, and puts his CONSCIENCE IN A STATE OF BEING ABLE TO SIN WITHOUT BEING PRICKED! Pretty CLEVER MORON hey? THAT IS THE DESIGN OF THE WORLD’S WISDOM!
Here is the summary of the world’s wisdom and it’s downward evolution into sheer, utter foolishness:
1. It majors in not knowing God. Ignorance here is bliss. While the wise Christian’s cry is OH THAT I MIGHT KNOW HIM (Phil. 3:10), the worldly wise cry OH THAT I MIGHT NOT KNOW HIM! Don’t bug me with that GOD STUFF! That intrudes upon the worldly wise’s space! Get that fanaticism out of here! So it goes! THE WORLD’S WISDOM!
2. It endeavors to keep God out of everything. The key 🔑 word is SEPARATION! 👌Keep the church out of politics. Strict separation between the secular and the sacred! Just as long as God stays in Heaven, and we live our lives on earth. That is the worldly wisdom’s arrangement! NO TRESPASSING SIGNS posted to God all over the place. The worldly wise will ride this to death. THE WORLD’S WISDOM!
3. It 💪 strongly and then fiercely becomes the enemy of divine knowledge and the close friend of human knowledge. It will more and more fight for climate control, but avoid the reality of moral decay. It will befriend science at every step, but vociferously oppose the spiritual. It worships the CREATURE RATHER THAN THE CREATOR. It will fight like hell to remove crosses, and fight like naturalists to preserve certain species! THE WORLD’S WISDOM!
4. It may give the surface appearance of religion, but all the while ignore the substance of religion. THAT IS WHAT THE LORD MEANS IN I Corinthians 3:19 by the CRAFTINESS OF THE WORLDLY WISE. 😎 The worldly wise will talk about faith and God when it suits them, but always stay away from the deep inner awe of God! Even as dark Satan presents himself as an angel 👼 of light, so too the children of darkness will try to present themselves as children of light! The worldly wise will present themselves as the GREAT ILLUMINATI OF THE END TIMES, all the while degrading Bible toting believers as RETARDS AND DEPLORABLES. THE WORLD’S WISDOM!
5. By not knowing God, it puts itself in a state of moral liberty which is a disguise for immorality. Always giving itself and mankind lots of moral space to roam. It has all kinds of mantras, all designed to give the human conscience lots of elbow room to play in! WOMEN ‘S RIGHTS, PRO CHOICE, SEXUAL PREFERENCE, SELF AWARENESS. THE WORLD ‘S WISDOM!

MORONIC FOLLY # 2
The # 1 foolishness of the world’s wisdom is that it’s stops ✋people from knowing God. The ONE that they need to know more than anyone or anything in the whole world!
Psalm 14:1,
“THE FOOL HAS SAID IN HIS HEART, THERE IS NO GOD.”
In short:
“THE WORLD’S WISDOM IS A SHIP OF FOOLS.”
The 2nd FOLLY is found in it’s own title – THE WISDOM OF THE WORLD!
Think about it! Think again! It is right there in front of you. I am sure you can see 👀 it!
It is self-evident that the WISDOM OF THE WORLD looks no further THAN THE WORLD! All of it’s meanings, intentions, and designs are taken from this side of HEAVEN! It is earth 🌎 bound!
Hence, God calls it what it is in totality, THE WISDOM OF THE WORLD! Not the WISDOM OF HEAVEN, not the WISDOM OF JESUS, not the WISDOM OF GOD!
Point – THERE IS NOT ONE STITCH OF GOD’S WISDOM IN THE WORLD’S WISDOM. AND THERE IS NOT ONE STITCH OF THE WORLD’S WISDOM IN GOD’S WISDOM.”

Now then, all of the WORLD’S WISDOM IS DESIGNED TO MAKE MEN WORLDLY. Of course! It is not designed to make men HEAVENLY! Do you get that? It is not designed to make men GODLY but MANLY!
That includes man’s and the world’s value system of course. Being RICH, and POWERFUL, and COMFORTABLE! Oh yes, CREATURE COMFORTS. LAZY-BOY RECLINERS TO CARIBBEAN CRUISES. AH YES, THE AMERICAN DREAM AND ALL THAT IT INCLUDES!
And insofar as the world’s wisdom helps men achieve those things, it has done it’s job and achieved its purpose. It shows men THE WISEST COURSE OF ACTION to achieve wealth and standing and honor among men!
Here are some credos of the world’s wisdom to help you achieve:
1. History itself teaches us who makes it to the top.
2. It’s a dog 🐕 eat dog world out there.
3. It’s every man for himself, and only the strong 💪 make it to the top.
4. Might makes right, tough times don’t last but tough people do.
5. Nice guys finish last, and SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST determines success on planet earth.
6. Don’t snooze or you lose. Keep the pedal to the medal.
7. Press the envelope! Manage risks! Stay ahead of the curve!
That’s the WORLD’S WISDOM, and it has nothing in common with the WISDOM OF HEAVEN. The world’s wisdom is rooted in power, dominance, pride, and control.
Now here is some of the WISDOM OF HEAVEN:
1. The HUMBLE are exalted, and the EXALTED are humbled.
2. The FIRST ARE LAST, and the LAST ARE FIRST.
3. Turn the other cheek, and forgive 7 times 70.
4. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
5. The least ones are the most important ones.
6. Love your neighbor as you love yourself.
7. Regard others as better than yourself.
8. The servant among you is the greatest of all!
Heaven’s wisdom is rooted in love, humility, gentleness, and sacrifice. It is embodied in the cross of Christ!
It is two different worlds. Two different wisdoms. Or we can say that in EARTH’S WISDOM:
“MAN ACCOUNTS NO ONE HIS NEIGHBOR BUT HIMSELF.”
While in HEAVEN’S WISDOM:
“MAN LOVES HIS NEIGHBOR AS HIMSELF.”
ILLUSTRATION
It wasn’t supposed to last very long! Both sides believed they were right, the UNION and the CONFEDERACY, the NORTH and the SOUTH. Both sides of the Mason-Dixon Line believed their cause was just. They both were eager and optimistic about the final outcome.
You know now what I am talking about – THE CIVIL WAR! Truth be told, the CIVIL WAR from bloody beginning to bloodiest ending, the war spread over 4 years of gore and blood and guts. No avowed negativist or pessimist could have begun to imagine the horror of what would be.
Ron Chernow in his biography of the life of Ulysses S. Grant, indicates that Grant did have forebodings of something ominous. Little did he know just how ominous. In 1861, a brutal war began that would seem to drag on into the endless hellish ages of eternity as the bodies on both sides piled up like cord wood.
On one side was the WISDOM OF THE WORLD. SUBJUGATE, OPPRESS, CONTROL the lesser for the greater. Slavery was the health of the economy. This was not cheap labor, but rather free labor once you bargained the original purchase price. The rich got richer on the shredded backs of slaves.
It was right and just to enslave and brutalize and dehumanize the entire race of black people called niggers. They were not fully homo sapiens, but rather beasts from the dark continent. They are no higher than dogs on a leash, if that, and we’re bought and sold as slave animals.
And after all, that is the world, the HAVES and the HAVE NOTS. True, all men are created equal, but they are not men, but rather sub-humans.
On the other side was the WISDOM OF HEAVEN. Consider others as greater than yourselves, not lesser! This slavish barbarism must not be allowed to stand, but abolished. All men, and blacks are men, must have the same rights and liberties and dignities as all of God’s image bearers.
So Abraham Lincoln commenced the war that would lead to the EMANCIPATION PROCLAMATION. It would take many more years to root the WISDOM of the WORLD out of the hearts and minds of men! It is still there, as KKK and WHITE SUPREMACIST MORONS STILL POISON THE LANDSCAPE.
I am reminded of what Rhett Butler said as a southerner in GONE WITH THE WIND:
“ALL WE HAVE IS COTTON, SLAVES, AND ARROGANCE. WE THINK WE ARE gODS.”

FOLLY # 3
We find that the world’s wisdom is so abysmally foolish for a third reason.
I Corinthians 3:19,
“THE LORD CATCHES THE WISE IN THEIR CRAFTINESS.”
CRAFTY HAMAN
Did you ever hear of the fella named HAMAN in the Old Testament? He was worldly wise, and as crafty and conniving as they come. He was the type of fella who you would expect to see in Steven Spielberg’s 🎥 film Schindler’s List, killing the Jewish captives with fiendish delight. HAMAN!
You must read it for yourself in the Book of Esther. Read the entire book to get the true sense of it.
Suffice it to say that Haman’s intention was to pull off his own holocaust against the Jews in the Persian Empire. He was a bad dude who was on a personal crusade of Jewish extinction! The list of the HAMANS AND HIMMLERS in Jewish history seems to be unending!
Haman had built a hangman’s gallows 7 stories high on which he planned to hang Mordecai the Jewish leader. That would be the kickoff death for the killing of thousands.
But as it turns out, through the intervention of Queen Esther, and above all the providence of God, the very rope that was intended to hang Mordecai finds instead Haman hanging at the end of it!
All of the contrivances of crafty Haman proved to be his own destruction!
If you will
“THE WICKEDLY WISE ALWAYS OUTWIT THEMSELVES, AND TRIP ON THEIR OWN DEVICES.”
In the end, THE WISDOM OF GOD WILL TRIUMPH, as all men will bow before WISDOM HIMSELF, AND CONFESS JESUS AS LORD, TO THE GLORY OF GOD THE FATHER.
