Obama –Values Versus Morals
This is our third in a series of three articles dealing with President Obama’s shot heard around the world before the Turkish Parliament. We have looked at his statement in a speech in 2007 when he said about historic Christian America, “Whatever we once were….” Then we considered his statement to the Turkish Parliament, which was like a kick in the head, “We do not consider ourselves a Christian nation.” He recently stood before this Islamic ruling body and said to them:
“WE DO NOT CONSIDER OURSELVES A CHRISTIAN
NATION OR A JEWISH NATION OR A MUSLIM
NATION. WE CONSIDER OURSELVES A
NATION OF CITIZENS WHO ARE
BOUND BY IDEALS AND A SET
OF VALUES.”
The last part of the statement is what we shall deal with here. Ideals and shared values which bind us together. Those words sound so idealistic and valuable. Who could ever have a problem with ideals and values? Except that they are prefaced by Obama’s statement that America is not a Christian nation.
Of course, what was tragically and glaringly missing, being replaced by Obama’s ideals and values, were spiritual principles and moral absolutes. Ideals and shared values, not faith and ethics. More than conspicuous by their total absence. In America today, ideals and values have many fathers, but spiritual principles and moral absolutes are orphans. I more than likely, with countless other Christians in America, would have thought we had gone to Heaven if we had heard the president say:
“WE DO NOT CONSIDER OURSELVES A JEWISH NATION
OR A MUSLIM NATION. WE CONSIDER OURSELVES A
CHRISTIAN NATION OF CITIZENS WHO ARE
BOUND BY SPIRITUAL PRINCIPLES
AND MORAL ABSOLUTES.”
He didn’t, not even close, for that would be a nation he does not want, and does not want to be associated with. Where do you keep your valuables? God’s Kingdom values were at one time safe in America. America was a safe haven for all of God’s treasures – prayer, the Ten Commandments, the Bible, babies, marriage, family, worship, the Gospel, preaching, witnessing and above all His Son Jesus Christ. That safe haven is now about as safe as ships are safe from pirates in the Gulf of Aden. America is now far more interested in what cavemen wrote on walls than what God wrote on two tables of stone. We must take a very close look at this and its frightening implications for America.

VALUES CLARIFICATION WITHOUT GOD
But then I recalled way back in the 1980s when the Georgia State Board of Education began their precedent setting campaign for what came to be called “Values Clarification” for America’s students. They announced that they would add to the three R’s – reading, riting and rithmetic – a course in every school in Georgia on “Values.” Values became the replacement name of morals. Values such as courage, honesty, tolerance and acceptance! Of course, they were suggesting that such valuable character traits would seemingly turn life in America into an ideal state of existence.
Whoops! In fact, a great big WHOOPS! The Georgia State Board of Education, after stating that they have educated generations without proper values, went out of their way to state the following:
“WE’RE NOT GOING TO TEACH RELIGION, AND WE
WOULDN’T IF WE COULD, BUT WE ARE
GOING TO TEACH VALUES.”
If you will:
“A VALUE NEUTRAL EDUCATION.”
No wonder what Obama said to the Turkish Parliament resounded so deep in the caverns of my mind like an echo of the Values Clarification Movement of the late 1900s. I mean to say, look at Obama’s words and you can conclude he would have fit well on the Georgia State Board of Education – perhaps its president too. Values clarification is:
“BARRING THE CHRISTIAN RELIGION FROM
EDUCATION WHILE TEACHING IDEALS
AND VALUES.”
It is the same OBAMAOLOGY:
“HAVING A NON-CHRISTIAN NATION WITH HIGH
IDEALS AND VALUES.”
Huge problem right from the get go:
“HOW DO YOU TEACH VALUES WITHOUT GOD?”
That is like having a heart without the blood. That is like having lungs without the oxygen. That is like having life without its Creator. That is like having a head without a brain. That is like having knowledge without the truth. How valueless can it get? How dumb can you be after being educated and getting your truthless and therefore valueless degree?
The Apostle Paul prophesied that this would happen – a non-Christ civilization majoring in education and never finding truth in any of it. He said in II Timothy 3:7,
“Always learning and never able to come to the
knowledge of the truth.”
Why? Because Jesus is truth! (John 14:6) A nation without Jesus is a truthless nation. The value of all knowledge is the truth. Otherwise all that we are learning and practicing are lies which in the final analysis devalue and destroy everyone and everything. And what is worse, our legislators and educators believe their lies. That is exactly what happened in the Dark Ages when economies collapsed and entire cultures fell.
Listen dear friend, there are no values apart from God. As a matter of fact:
“A GENERATION WITHOUT GOD WILL BECOME
AND PRODUCE A VALUE-TERMINAL
GENERATION.”
If you will:
“A GENERATION WITHOUT GOD WILL BECOME AND
PRODUCE A VALUE-HOSTILE GENERATION.”
Why do I say these things? William K. Kilpatrick, the author of Why Johnny Can’t Tell Right From Wrong, points out that (25) years ago in the American educational system, the idea of character education was totally rejected and replaced by the values of “decision making” and “self-esteem.” The idea is that if you expose a child to various ideas, he will decide for himself what is right and what is wrong – and that he or she will come to the right conclusion.
It is then pointed out, you may not believe this, but 1700 public school students – in a nationwide poll – were asked, “Is rape under certain circumstances acceptable?” A majority of the sixth to ninth grade boys said that rape was acceptable under certain circumstances. Amazingly enough, many of the girls of the same grades said rape was conditionally acceptable. Yes indeed:
“A NATION WITHOUT GOD WILL BECOME A VALUE-
TERMINAL NATION.”

VALUES ROT WITHOUT MORALS
The anti-God forces in America have tried for some time now to get away with another verbal caper. They have tried to replace the word “Morals” with the word “Values.” Nice try! After all, the word “Values” does have a rather honorable and valuable ring to it. It does sound like something that ought to be valued. See how a seed germinates in the human mind!
Allow me to try to clarify this whole values clarification thing. We must see how dangerous Obama’s words are in total, because it is lethal to talk about ideals and values without spiritual principles and moral absolutes.
For instance, most everybody would put a very high value on “Ambition.” Now there is a value that we can all rally around and get behind as an ideal characteristic of society. We all want our children to be ambitious, don’t we? How valuable is that in a very competitive world. That certainly is a requirement for a nation to flourish, and that is to have an ambitious citizenry.
For that matter, you really have to be super-ambitious to follow Christ. The Christian life of discipleship is really an awesomely ambitious undertaking. I think of that each time the Holy Spirit brings to my mind the Great Commission given to us by our Lord in Matthew 28:19,
“Go therefore and make disciples
of all nations….”
A very ambitious undertaking I might say. All nations! Lord, do You know what You are commanding us to do? Isn’t that somewhat overly ambitious?
But there it stands, when in point of fact my own neighborhood and my own neighbors at times are to me an overwhelming challenge. It can be intimidating at times, but then I find great encouragement from the fact that Jesus took a crooked tax collector and made him an apostle and the author of a gospel in His Bible. Jesus took a prostitute and made her a virtuous daughter of God. He took a woman who had been married five times and didn’t even bother to marry the sixth one, and He forgave her and she became a witness for Christ. He took a murderer and made him a mighty missionary. Jesus dealt with blatant sinners. I have found that discouragement will kill ambition, but encouragement will ignite and expand ambition. Be encouraged!
However:
“WHILE DISCOURAGEMENT CAN KILL AMBITION,
THE LACK OF MORALS WILL
CORRUPT AMBITION.”
How so? Allow me once more to quote from my page 72 of my book Is God With America? – “There is no end to ambitious people in history who were a peek into Hell on earth. Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, and Al Capone were all extremely ambitious. But they had no moral compass of absolute right and wrong. America recalls Charles Colson who has been for some time now a born-again believer in Jesus Christ Who turned Colson’s life around for good! Colson was a political advisor to President Richard Nixon. He reportedly once said, ‘I would step on my mother to see the President elected.’ Another aspiring politician was heard to say, ‘No matter how noble your goals, you can do nothing if you don’t get elected. I plan to do anything, and I mean anything, to be elected.’ It is good to be ambitious, but only a fabric of moral absolutes woven into the ambitious person’s character, can guide that ambition into righteous channels of endeavor.”
We could tragically illustrate this in a thousands ways, as today there are ex-corporate executives in prison, and many more who should be, who had ambition coming out of their ears but no morals.
On the family level, as one business man put it, “Reaching a level of business success that I have requires total commitment. If your family is too demanding, get a new family. That’s what I did.” He just traded his wife and family for new one. His wife and family wanted a husband, a Dad, one who would spend time with them. So this morally bankrupt Fortune 500 executive got rid of them like last year’s model. It is done all the time rooted in ambition without morals.

THE PERFECT STORM
Obama’s “Non-Christian America and Shared Values” is the most dangerous combination of elements coming together for the “Perfect Storm” which will tear America apart. Obama’s legacy will be the worst that this nation has ever seen if it survives to see it. What will happen and already is happening at an extremely accelerated rate will be this:
“VIRTUES WILL BE MORE AND MORE CALLED VICES,
AND VICES WILL MORE AND MORE BE
CALLED VIRTUES.”
Remember the days when vices were assigned to Satan and virtues were assigned to Christ. No more, and it will be reversed even more under the Obama regime. If you will:
“SATAN’S FOLLOWERS WILL BE CREDITED WITH
VIRTUES, AND CHRIST’S FOLLOWERS WILL
BE DISCREDITED WITH VICES.”
It will be that:
“THE VALUELESS WILL BE CALLED VALUABLE, AND
THE VALUABLE WILL BE CALLED VALUELESS.”
Isaiah already prophesied such a disastrous state of affairs when he warned such people In Isaiah 5:20,
“Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil….”
A classic example of all of this is that CNN has the gull to call itself “The Most Trusted Network ,” when in point of fact, it is the “Least To-Be-Trusted Network.” It is run by and communicated by lefties who rejoice over Obama’s anti-Christian America. When in fact one of the few networks that can and should be trusted anymore is CBN.

TOLERANCE – THE ANTI-GOD MANTRA
The key virtue-value-word these days amongst the anti-God secular humanists in America is the word “Tolerance,” while the top non-virtuous-valueless-word is “Intolerance.” Our children are being taught in our secular humanistic public schools that it is virtuous to be tolerant of homosexuality, same sex marriages, sexual deviancy, teenage sex with condoms, and abortion. To be intolerant of these sins is now being characterized as vice and even crime, This lie will triumph under Obama unless Christians stand up and speak up for the moral absolutes of the Word of God, and if we do, it will become more and more costly.
What do I mean? This heathen deception will more and more become the legal bent of the land under Obama’s appointee Janet Napolitano as head of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Already certain groups of people are being labeled as dangers to the homeland and extremists because they are members of ‘right wing’ organizations. Those who are anti-abortion and pro-life and those who are anti-same sex marriage and pro-heterosexual marriage will more and more be labeled as potential threats to the homeland along with the likes of Al-Qaida and other terrorists groups.
I read on Onenewsnow.com that a Virginia pro-life group has been listed as an extremist organization. Dennis Green reported that their ministry was named as a potential domestic terrorist in an official state report. It was the 2009 Virginia Terrorist [Threat] Assessment report put out by the Fusion Center – and it was for the Virginia State Police.
Under President George Bush, the war on terror was on the front lines of Afghanistan and Iraq. Now under President Obama the front lines of war against terror are where godless lefties are poised to battle against such terrorists organizations as “Right To Life” and “Focus On The Family.”
It is way past time to let our voices be heard from the pulpits of America, in the media, in the halls of Congress, and in the While House as never before. Sin is sin and righteousness is righteousness, no matter how values-propaganda seeks to distort it. Psychology will not explain sin away. Sociology will not explain sin away. Genetics will not explain sin away. Values clarification will not explain sin away. Government will not explain sin away. The While House will not explain sin away. Jesus Christ will not explain sin away, but He will wash it away by His precious blood. And those who stand for righteousness in the land will not go away, even if Obama takes us off from our pulpits and puts us in prison. For Jesus Sake Amen!
