Lie Number 9: Human Rights
Lie Number 9. The Most Important Element Of A Free Society Is Human Rights
Human Rights! Civil Rights! Women’s Rights! Employee’s rights! Children’s rights! Animal rights! We demand our rights! And be sure to read to the criminal his rights! So the sacred “Rights Litany” is chanted over and over again by rights activists. To be sure, “Rights” are critically important in a free society. Whatever side we stand on as to America’s track record at home and abroad when it comes to human rights, there can be no debate that not to attach great importance to the fight for the protection of human rights is terribly wrong. Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of happiness are the fundamental rights of all Americans and of all citizens of the world.
Now then, what about “Patient’s Rights?” What about life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for them? What about the Terry Schiavos of life? Here was a brain-damaged human being, alive and breathing on her own, being loved and cared for and fed by her parents and family. For 15 years they did exactly that, as any loving and moral human beings would. They wanted to continue to do so for her without complaint. They loved her dearly. But then her husband and the American courts took away from her the first of the sacred triad of human rights – life! Her feeding tube was pulled and the death watch was on. Surprise, surprise, surprise, Terry died.
No she didn’t! She was killed! Murdered! God commands us in Exodus 20:13 in the King James Version of the Bible, “Thou shalt not kill.” It means, “Thou shall not murder.” That is the only moral construct for a truly free society. Without it as the central core of that society, nobody is free to live. Not the old, not the sick, not the unborn. Jack Kevorkian, alias Dr. Death, is out of jail. When you see Jack, never tell him that you are not feeling well. For you see, whether you euthanize me, abort me, starve me, shoot me, poison me, stab me to death, or asphyxiate me, you have murdered me. They called Terry Schiavo’s murder a mercy killing – the right to die. This is but one tragic illustration of just how convoluted and dangerous the entire rights issue will become if it is not defined by and confined within the Divine superstructure of moral right.
The founding document of The United States Of America, namely, The Declaration Of Independence, tells us that all men are created equal. They didn’t evolve, but were created. Which means that our founding fathers were “Creationists” and not “Evolutionists” not only, but they believed in the Creator God of the Bible. More than that, all men have been endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights. The God of the Bible is portrayed as totally pro-human rights! That is proper! What rights? Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. These are every man’s birthrights by an irrevocable charter from God, not from nature or from the government first of all.
Alrighty then! Everyone who is conceived has the right to be born. Everyone who is born has the right to live. Everyone who is alive has the right to have his life sustained. No senator, representative or judge is either lord of the life or proprietor of him whose life he was appointed to protect. They are only trustees of God to secure for all men the right to live and the enjoyment of the same. Any servant of the people who destroys or takes away from man his life will be judged by God as a thief and a murderer, and will be so dealt with by God in the judgment. Whether that person was aborted or mercy killed, no one has the right to fight fire with fire and take revenge for the wrong doing upon the perpetrators. Christians do not bomb abortion clinics or murder judges or anyone else. Vengeance is mine says the Lord. Leave it with Him, and forgive those who have sinned against you and your loved ones.
The core and central issue of a truly free society is not and cannot be “HUMAN RIGHTS”, important as they are. It is and must always be “MORAL RIGHT”! Apart from absolute moral right and wrong as the superstructure of society, rights activists will go berserk and morality will collapse. They will kill in the womb and outside of the womb and call it human rights. Apart from the bright light of moral right, America will stumble around in an immoral smog and pollution of bogus human rights, as she mercifully pursues what is evil, and unmercifully opposes what is good. Isaiah 5:20 says, “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil…”
Another glaring illustration of this today are the vocal “Environmental Rights” activists. Human rights activists tell us that the hope of human civilization is its responsibility to and connectedness with each other. Environmental rights activists like Al Gore tell us that the hope of civilization is its responsibility to and connectedness with mother earth. Al Gore says that he is a Christian, but for him if Jesus is God, then mother earth is Goddess. Gore and his ilk are totally opposed to drilling for oil in this continent, for that would be like drilling holes in mother earth’s face. Strange isn’t it that the same environmentalists have no qualms about purchasing oil from other nations where mother earth has been and is drilled freely?
It is also extremely important to note that while Al Gore is totally pro-choice for the drilling of mothers’ wombs and the killing of human life, he is also totally anti-choice when it comes to the drilling of mother earth’s womb for oil and the support of human life. Pro-choice for abortion and not pro-choice for the environment! Such is the insanity that occurs when “Rights” and not “Right” take center stage. Everything becomes contradictory, inconsistent and out of balance. The Word of God says in Proverbs 20:23, “Differing weights are an abomination to the Lord, and a false scale is not good.”
When human rights, or any other rights, are not circumscribed within the boundaries of God’s moral fences, then it is that human rights become immoral wrongs trespassing all over the moral landscape. The most important element of a free society is not human rights, but moral right. And let us never forget it! Unless America’s heart is turned right toward God, she will continue to go wrong in every direction even though she calls it “Rights.” Nothing can be “human rights” or “moral right” without God as the key and central ingredient. Without Him, all pursuit of rights of whatever kind will become wrongs no matter how good the intentions were at the start.
