GOD OUR SUPER-ADEQUACY
Everything in the secular and religious world these days is designed to appeal to our egos. You walk in a secular or religious bookstore and the titles of gobs of books shout at you saying, “There is a giant in you. The sky is the limit. Go for it! There is nothing you can’t do.” That is supposed to encourage and make your life full and productive.
The average American takes credit for everything, forgetting all that he has accomplished, all that he has is due to the Lord Who is indeed the giver of every good and perfect gift. Do you find yourself primarily looking at yourself or do you find yourself looking up to Christ who provides in life and in death – encouragement and confidence?
The glory that is due to God He will not share. That is why the man that looks up is always blessed, and the man who looks to and at himself is always cursed. In the midst of all of the world’s egomania, which only leads to failure and frustration, the Bible has some powerful good new for us!
II Corinthians 3:5
“Not that we are adequate in ourselves to consider anything as coming from
ourselves, but our adequacy is from God.”
“THERE IS NOTHING ACCOMPLISHED FOR THE LORD THAT IS NOT BECAUSE OF THE
SUPER-ADEQUACY OF CHRIST COMBINING WITH THE TOTAL INADEQUACY
OF PEOPLE LIKE YOU AND ME.”
