Satisfaction Guaranteed
It was a time-stopping moment when Montgomery Ward closed its doors never to be opened again. Montgomery Ward for many years had been a huge factor in American retailing. But back in the 30s there were only two basic choices of catalogs and everybody knew it – the Sears Roebuck catalog and the Montgomery Ward catalog. You could choose one or the other with confidence because they were both great companies.
The founder Montgomery Ward originated the statement, “Satisfaction Guaranteed.” That was more than a century ago. Satisfaction guaranteed! What a policy! Think how good this made the customer feel! He was going to be treated fairly no matter what happened. He was going to be satisfied. That’s right! You could count on it!
Look around you my friend. Every two years and every four years we go crazy on politics. We hear a new set of promises. If you have been around politics and politicians, or if you have been much involved in politics, you know that by the time elections roll around you would think that the living end is the election of that man or that woman. All of the promises are going to be kept and everything hinges on the election of this person because you can trust him or her. Satisfaction guaranteed!
But in time you are disappointed. Two years or four years later there is someone else. And two years or four years later there is someone else, and so on and so on. And time after time after time you learn, “I cannot trust them.” And it tears you apart and you become sour on politics.
I have heard it said by more than one that when they pick up the Bible, they say that it sounds like another language. There are promises in the Bible that they have never heard anywhere else. They don’t hear them on television, in magazines, on the radio, or in newspapers. The Bible is a book full of totally different promises. But can you trust them? My assurance to anyone is, “Satisfaction Guaranteed!”
Why? Because I personally know the Author and He cannot lie or ever go back on His word. With God, satisfaction guaranteed will never become just a slogan, and the doors of Heaven will never be closed to those who call upon the name of the Lord for forgiveness and eternal life. Those promises and many more are all in the Book! When a Christian says, “It’s in the Book,” satisfaction is eternally guaranteed. No limited warranties with God. No return policy needed.
So shall My word be which goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return
to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire. Isaiah 55:11
