You don’t have a biological mother, for she gave you up when she was very young. You never knew your biological father. You have tried without success to find any trace of your family in terms of brothers and sisters. You don’t know if they are or where any of them could be. You don’t know whether they are dead or alive. And you don’t have people in your life who seem to really care whether you live or die. You joined a church, but it is not a family. |

The economy is faceless. No one can pinpoint the economy. America is dealing with a heartless phantom called “The Economy!” And you are asking in the midst of all of this, “Does God care about the fact that there is not enough money at the end of the monthly bills? Does He care that the money is all gone when the bills aren’t? Does He care that I have an intelligent boy in high school who wonders with his mother if by any means he is going to be able to afford college?” |

I was brought up in the environment where I was told that the time of God’s miracles was past. Of course if you are told by your preacher that the age of miracles is past, even though you need a miracle from God, you find yourself thinking, “Well then, I won’t pray for that because I don’t want to embarrass God or myself because He’s past the age of miracles.” |

Garth Brooks certainly has been and is one of the great entertainers in the modern world. There was a time that he was a bouncer in a bar. Now he makes his millions. He has made the top of the charts with popular music as well as country and western. Brooks once observed, “You know, if God hadn’t intended for us to have it all, he would not have put in all on the earth. I want it all.” When speaking of his little girl he said, “I have rehearsed and rehearsed what I am going to tell her: ‘Be happy. Be happy. Above all things, be happy.’” |
